Diapers

I made a few diapers last week. 

If I haven't mentioned it...we cloth diaper my son and I quickly fell in love with cloth diapers. We started cloth diapers when I had both my kids in diapers, since then my daughter has been potty trained so now we just have one in diapers but I digress....

I wanted every design every print, every soaker in every fabric. 

After spending quite a bit of money purchasing diapers I started studying them 

and it occurred to me that I might be able to make my own diapers. 

So I scrounged up flannel and other fabrics that weren't necessarily the most effective cloth diaper materials but would allow me to practice making them. 

Then I bought a pattern, "real" diaper material and went for it.

Next time I am going to make two rows of buttons and a hip snap. 

The soaker snaps into this one so it doesn't wiggle around and I don't have to stuff

Nice for dads who aren't really into cloth diapering! 

Very similar to a fuzzibunz diaper

I like the squared off tabs more than the round tabs. I also like a hip snap. My guy has skinny legs so if there isn't a hip snap they don't fit him. 

Side snapping

which allows the diaper to be really slim fitting but I'm not used to side snapping. 

Also the bottom button is a hip snap and can be set at a different setting than the top button which is for the waist. I really like this diaper in concept, just trying to get used to those side snaps. 

Made a pocket so I can stuff if I want to

all open 

and when done you can fold up and throw in the wet bag

You could probably even store them like this in the diaper bag so they take up less room

I will be adding diapers to my etsy store soon and make them custom for each order. If you are interested please let me know. My price ranges from $10-$20 a diaper dependent on materials 

My craft room makeover

 I have shared a few pics of my craft space 

but I haven't put up any pics since my green desk joined the family

So I cleaned up my mess, took out the toys that didn't really belong there 

and got to moving furniture....

I won't bore you with all the different configurations 

(yes I photographed each of them so I could look back at them and decide which I liked best!)

Repurposed clothes into skirts

I have been hanging onto a few maternity items and way tooooooooo small shirts. 

While organizing my closet I threw all those clothes into bags to sale or donate 

then I decided I would go through the clothes one last time 

to see if there was something else I could do with them. 

So here are a few of the skirts I made for my daughter

 (she really doesn't need any but I couldn't resist!!) 

I chose to get rid of this because it felt too "young" for me. I did like it but..... 

I made two skirts, I kinda wish I made them a bit fuller but they still look adorable on my daughter. The second one is for her best friend. :) 

A maternity skirt 

I don't plan on getting pregnant any more so I am not sure why I kept holding onto this skirt. I loved the way it made me feel when I wore it. So girly and twirly. 

So I cut the bottom of it off and viola a really full skirt. 

And see she gets the twirly too! lol! She was loving this one and wants to wear it all the time! 

My way too small shirt

I love this type of fabric. 

I was trying to find a way to save the embellished part but ended up tossing it. Of course my mind has a million ideas now that it's gone! Oh well!

Recipe Binder

This weeks challenge is a recipe binder. 

Luckily for me I was given a Recipe Binder so I didn't have to make one 

but I did want to share it with you all. 

The inside had pockets to slide recipes into

The paper to write the recipe on, I also discovered in the back of the binder it gave instructions on how to format to print the recipe instead of hand writing.

I kinda like the idea of handwriting it though, especially if it is going to go to my children as a family recipe book. 

Tabs

Included are Appetizers, Soups and Salads, Main Dishes, Side Dishes, Desserts, Miscellaneous

Each tab is made of a folder so you can again stuff the folder if needed

Now to fill it with recipes! 

Home Management Binder

I signed up to participate in Toni's challenge over at A Bowl Full of Lemons

Executing these tasks has been challenging for some reason! 

They aren't super difficult, I get started on them right away but I taper off and forget about things and get distracted etc... I have a short attention span I guess! 

Maybe that's why I was able to complete the daily organizing tasks she had? 

idk but here is week one the home management binder. 

This is the SUPER cute binder I found. 

I {heart} polka dots!! Perfect binder for me... 

Well almost! It's simply too small!

 I didn't even have paper in it yet, just the two folders and dividers and it was stuffed!! 

So I got a plain white one....this one has plenty of room to grow into! haha! 

I can even put my hole puncher in there

I just printed them because I didn't have a labeler at the time (but I do now) 

My calendar section

She's right the scalloped edges are adorable!

Cleaning section

I made a spreadsheet in excel listing all my "chores" and which days I would do them. Still learning to stick to this but I veer off path often! lol! This is why a list is a good idea! I love checking things off the list and somedays I get ahead of myself! 

Finances section

I made this sheet in excel as well and it lists all our bills in order of when they are due, with the due date under the name. Then it lists every month so I can be sure we pay it and I also list how much the bill was so we can compare our bills, add them up etc.. 

Weekly Menu

made in excel, it has breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner

Below the menu is a shopping list form. I typed the whole thing out and printed it but I don't know that I will always type in the form versus writing in the space. We will see. I take this grocery shopping with me and am able to see what I need for the items on my menu and I keep track of how much I spend on food for the week so we can better budget our food expenses. 

I also have a medical section but have yet to fill it, a contacts sections, school and two folders to hold anything that is too big to hole punch and put in the binder.
